together we can MAKE an impact

YALDA KAZEMI

I’m a Speaker, Author, and Mental Health Advocate/Educator aiming to shift perspectives and raise awareness about the realities of mental illness and foster a culture of wellbeing on an individual, family, workplace and community level.

I’m also a Board Member at the Mental Health Foundation of Alberta and Chair of their Fund Allocation Committee, Co-Chair of the Mental Health Employee Resource Group at STEMCELL Technologies, and part of the Strategies for Postpartum Wellness research project co-hosted by the University of Calgary, the University of British Columbia, and BC’s Provincial Health Services Authority.

My educational background provided me with a B.Sc. in Psychology and a B.Comm. (Marketing), and I have more than a decade of corporate Policy and HR experience which helps me understand an organization’s need for mental health and wellness from multiple perspectives.

Personal experience overcoming severe postpartum mental illness led me on a mission to be a voice for those who suffer in silence, and to raise awareness and break stigmas associated with mental illness. I know first-hand how difficult the journey can be, not just for those suffering, but those in support roles as well. My goal is to share my experience, learnings and strategies, as well as mistakes, to educate others and possibly help to ease their journey in regaining their sense of self.

I’ve spoken to audiences around the world, at summit and fundraising events, and been featured on multiple TV, radio, podcasts and publications where I share strategies and tips from my book and lived experience to provide an all-encompassing approach to mental health and wellness.

I look forward to connecting with you and continuing the important conversations around mental health and wellbeing.

"Recently, I had the opportunity to host a corporate session on mental health awareness, with Yalda as our keynote speaker. Yalda activated her revolutionary courage by sharing her personal mental health/illness journey. Her story was told in such a raw and authentic way, where she left hundreds of us across the globe in awe of not only her courage, but also her strength to overcome. In addition, she shared some highlights from her book, giving us tools to change the negative perception of mental illness and to appreciate the benefits of it! She has such a big heart to change the face of mental health, and I can feel her passion every time we chat. It’s been a great pleasure working with Yalda – 100% recommend!”
